The newspaper is great for learning about money - earning, spending, saving and more. Think about what you do when you have spending money. Skim the newspaper to find expensive items, inexpensive items, etc. that you might buy if you had money to spend.
Create a list of products that are advertised in the newspaper and record the current prices. Then take your list home and have an adult approximate the prices of those items ten years ago. Or go online to do the research and find out the prices from a decade ago.
Use the E-edition index to find the Apartment for Rent ads in the Classified section. Choose three apartments for rent listed in the classified ads and do the following:
Compute the total annual rent for each of the three. Determine the average monthly rent based on the three apartments you have chosen. Determine which of the apartments appears to be the best choice and explain why.
