
Search headlines on one page of the newspaper to find letters of the alphabet in order, beginning with A and going all the way to Z if possible. Write the headline word in which you found each letter.
Then find words in headlines that have prefixes and suffixes. See if you can find ten. Write them on a piece of paper, underline the prefix or suffix, and circle the root word.
Make up new captions for 3 interesting photos.
The comic strips have lots of contractions. Those are two words put together into one like “we are” becomes “we're” and “I am” becomes “I'm.” Use the E-edition index tool to find the comics. Look at the strips and write out any contractions you find in two words.
Find 10 plural words in the newspaper, write them on a piece of paper and circle the root words.
