2.4 Moving Through the News
One of the best things about using an E-edition is that it's easy to move around the newspaper. There are several ways to do that quickly.
  1. One of the coolest “power tools” of the E-edition is the pull-down menu. A pull-down or drop down menu is a list of commands or options that appears when you select an item with a mouse. Usually, when you click on the menu title that causes the options to appear to “drop down” and be displayed. You can then choose options by clicking the menu item or by continuing to hold the mouse button down, scrolling (rolling your cursor down the list with the mouse) down the list and letting go when you're on the item you want to choose.
  2. Find the pull-down menu to take you from page to page. You can also use the arrow icons. There may be just one to the left and one to the right or there may be four arrows. They may be labeled “First,” “Prev,” “Next,” and “Last.” “First” takes you to the first page of the newspaper, “Last” takes you to the last page, “Prev” or the left arrow takes you to the page just before the one you're on. Where do you think “Next” or the right arrow will take you? Click on it and find out.
  3. As you move through the E-edition, you can choose the icon on the toolbar that says “Single” to see just one page at a time or “Double” to see a two-page spread, or you may be able to choose “Thumb” or “Thumbnail” to see tiny images of many pages.
  4. The various sections of the newspaper are shown on an index sidebar and also on an index pull-down menu. There may be an index of every story in the newspaper, listed by headline. Check it out. Which headline grabs your interest?
