2.2 Identifying Your Style
Identifying your teaching strategy will help you to gear your newspaper lessons to a method that works best for you. You might find that a combination of strategies and methods is optimal, incorporating guided instruction and independent work.
  1. Students may work independently or in small groups, sharing the newspapers:
    1. Once the teacher has provided the whole class with the instruction for the lesson and the guided application, students can work on their own.
  1. Discussions work best when engaging the entire class.
Tip TipTIP: Some students may never have interacted with a newspaper while others may be regular readers. For the purposes of introductory lessons, it is best to begin with the assumption that newspaper use is new to everyone.
