2.1 E-editions and Print Editions
Technology has changed newspaper delivery. You can now read the news in print or online. Either way, the newspaper is a terrific teaching tool. And you can incorporate either or both into your curriculum easily. Newspaper use also meets many state standards.
  1. Many newspapers offer electronic editions:
    1. Also known as e-editions, these are exact replicas of the print newspaper that readers can access through their computers.
  1. There are several advantages to having students interact with an online newspaper:
    1. Students can see all the same text, photos and ads that they would see in the print newspaper.
    1. Students can flip through pages, skim headlines and stories, and use e-editions much the same way as with print editions.
    1. It is easy for students to change screen layout and move easily through pages or sections. Plus, moving the mouse over a story or headline often provides a summary for a quick read.
    1. Students can type in keywords to research people or topics.
    1. Students can save or print articles by clicking a button.
    1. Online newspapers don't require recycling. They don't create classroom clutter. There are no inky fingers!
It's True! It's True!IT'S TRUE: While using an e-edition, students can create personal archives or e-mail interesting articles to classmates when working on a group project.

Tip TipTIP: If you do choose to use print editions, baby wipes make it easy to clean hands of any excess ink.
