2.1 E-editions and Print Editions
Newspapers have long been an inexpensive and accessible way for people to get news and advertising information. They have always been “user-friendly,” so people could navigate easily between the sections, reading only what interested them. Now that newspapers are online, they're still simple to use. And they're terrific teaching tools, maybe better than ever.
  1. Also known as E-editions, online newspapers are exact replicas of the print newspaper that readers can access through their computers.
  2. There are several advantages to having students interact with an online newspaper:
    1. Students can see all the same text, photos and ads that they would see in the print newspaper.
    2. Students can flip through pages, skim headlines and stories, and use E-editions much the same way as with print editions.
    3. It is easy to change screen layout and move easily through pages or sections. Plus, moving the mouse over a story or headline often provides a summary for a quick read.
    4. Students can type in keywords to research people or topics.
    5. Students can save or print articles by clicking a button.
    6. Online newspapers don't require recycling so they're environmentally friendly.
    7. The newspaper archives make it easy for students to research topics of study.
It's True! It's True!IT'S TRUE: While using an e-edition, students can create personal archives or e-mail interesting articles to classmates when working on a group project.

Tip TipTIP: If you do choose to use print editions, baby wipes make it easy to clean hands of any excess ink.
